Unity's Figma Connector Brings UI Into the Editor
Unity is experimenting with a Figma connector that moves interface designs directly into UI Toolkit. The connector can push selected Figma frames into Unity as UXML and USS files, while design tokens can become reusable theme stylesheets.
The goal is to reduce the amount of time developers spend rebuilding approved interface designs by hand after a designer has already completed the layout work in Figma.
Frames become UI Toolkit documents
Selected Figma frames can arrive in Unity as UI Toolkit documents with associated style files.
That creates a better starting point than manually recreating every layout, spacing rule and visual property.
Design tokens can become stylesheets
Unity says token data can be translated into theme stylesheets and token modes can map to swappable stylesheet variants.
This is useful for teams with light and dark themes, brand variants or systematic color and spacing rules.
Components can map to real controls
The connector is designed to resolve design components into functional UI Toolkit controls rather than treating every element as an image.
The closer the mapping is to real production components, the less cleanup developers have to do after import.
The project is still experimental
Unity is explicitly gathering feedback on how teams want the Figma-to-Unity workflow to behave.
Teams should expect limitations and changing behavior rather than treating the connector as a finished production pipeline.
uGUI is not the current target
Unity has said the connector is focused on UI Toolkit and there are no current plans to add uGUI support.
That makes the tool more relevant to teams already moving toward Unity's newer UI stack.
What teams should test
Teams should try nested components, tokens, responsive layouts and complex screens, then compare imported structure against their production conventions.
The real success metric is whether the imported UI remains maintainable after developers start working with it.
